NEWS Introducing the New Better Cotton Brand
Earlier this month, we launched the new Better Cotton brand and website. This is about more than looks. It’s about finding a stronger place and voice for Better Cotton in line with our strategic ambitions for the next decade.
Our new branding and communications will help us to tell the Better Cotton story more powerfully – with passion and purpose – embracing our global leadership role in cotton.
BLOG Better Cotton and Regenerative Agriculture: Our Approach
Regenerative agriculture seems to be on everyone’s radar these days. From new regenerative agriculture certifications to sourcing commitments from big brands, the concept is gaining traction. In our latest blog, Chelsea Reinhardt, Director of Standards & Assurance, discusses regenerative agriculture as it relates to Better Cotton — from how we define it to our approach moving forward.
NEWS Better Cotton Joins Industry Leaders and Experts on the Sustainable Apparel Coalition Board of Directors
Last month, Lena Staafgard, COO, was elected to sit as a Director on the Sustainable Apparel Coalition Board (SAC), representing the Affiliate Category of the SAC Membership. The SAC is a global, multi-stakeholder non-profit alliance for the fashion industry. Lena will be joining a diverse set of stakeholders to drive systemic change across the consumer goods industry.
EVENTS Members Can Register Now for Upcoming Webinar Series
Through October and November, we are running a series of webinars for Better Cotton Members. Topics include measuring and reporting GHG emissions, climate change, impact target setting, and Better Cotton’s Theory of Change. All webinars offer the opportunity for members to learn more or provide input on Better Cotton’s 2030 Strategy. Members can learn more in this video and register via the members-only area of the website.
Better Cotton’s future is shaped by the BCI Council. The Council sits at the centre of the organisation and is responsible for our strategic direction. The next Council Elections are scheduled for June 2022. All Better Cotton Members will receive the application package in October detailing how and when they may apply for a position on the Council.
Better Cotton is the world’s leading sustainability initiative for cotton. Our mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.

We are delighted to publish our 2020 Annual Report today! The report reveals that the BCI programme now reaches more than 2.7 million farmers across 23 countries and Better Cotton accounts for 23% of global cotton production. BCI COLLABORATES WITH FAO GLOBAL SOIL PARTNERSHIP
Through a new and exciting collaboration with the FAO Global Soil Partnership, BCI will implement two innovative soil management pilot projects in Mali and Mozambique this year. The pilots are designed to allow farmers to make immediate and responsible decisions on soil management. Find out more.

ISRAEL COTTON PRODUCTION AND MARKETING BOARD BECOMES BCI STRATEGIC PARTNER

MEMBER WEBINAR: BCI’S 2020 RESULTS AND WHAT’S NEXT

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Through BCI and its Partners, farmers receive training on how to use water efficiently, care for the health of the soil and natural habitats, reduce use of the most harmful chemicals and apply decent work principles. BCI Farmers implementing this system are licensed to sell Better Cotton.
