This interactive training session is for all existing and new Better Cotton Suppliers and Manufacturers who are interested in learning more about Traceability, the Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard v1.0, and its accompanying onboarding and assessment process.

This session is most useful for persons responsible for site operations and management systems.

  • The requirements of the Better Cotton CoC Standard at site level
  • The four CoC Models available
  • The CoC transition period if you are currently adhering to the CoC Guidelines v1.4
  • The CoC Standard onboarding and assessment process

Sustainable Cotton in Near Shore Supply Chains: Tour Manufacturing Facilities in Honduras

Join Better Cotton, US cotton producers and stakeholders, and SIERRA Textiles (part of GK Global) in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on 7-8 February, 2024. The goal of this trip is to bring Better Cotton Members and US cotton producers and stakeholders together to cover the importance of more sustainable cotton in near shore supply chains. We will cover the process of receiving cotton bales, the yarn production process, renewable energy initiatives, benefits of sourcing from the CAFTA region, and traceability.

The Supplier Training Programme (STP) is a series of regular voluntary training sessions for Better Cotton Suppliers.

COP28: Just Transition Through Trade – Empowering Small Enterprises

At COP28, taking place in Dubai (UAE), Lisa Ventura, Public Affairs Manager at Better Cotton, will be participating in a panel discussion hosted by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the U.S. Department of State.

Small businesses, particularly those led by women, young people, and indigenous communities bear the brunt of climate change impacts, necessitating a just transition. This panel will delve into how trade can play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and equitable transition aligned with the Paris Agreement’s goals, fostering social, economic, and environmental benefits. COP28: Trade tools for climate action

At COP28, taking place in Dubai, UAE, Bonsucro and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) are hosting a side-event focusing on trade tools for climate action in global agricultural value chains, with the support of Better Cotton, Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Gold Standard, ISEAL and The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).

The event will delve into how sustainability standards drive climate action in the Forest, Land, and Agriculture sectors, with leaders from key sustainability organisations and governments sharing their views on:

COP28: Mainstreaming Climate-Smart Agricultural Practices

The 28th session of the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28) will convene from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Better Cotton is thrilled to be part of The Standards Pavilion by ISO and host a side-event on sustainable agriculture and ways to drive the adoption of climate-smart practices in global value chains.

These practices can support farmers around the world to improve their climate resilience and enhance their livelihoods, while enabling a transition to farming systems that produce sustainable crops. As the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme, reaching more than 2.8 million cotton farmers in 22 countries, Better Cotton is uniquely positioned to address these challenges.
