In just over 10 years we have become the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. Our mission: to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.
Better Cotton is grown in 22 countries around the world and accounts for 22% of global cotton production. In the 2022-23 cotton season, 2.13 million licensed Better Cotton Farmers grew 5.47 million tonnes of Better Cotton.
Today Better Cotton has more than 2,700 members, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the industry. Members of a global community that understands the mutual benefits of sustainable cotton farming. The moment you join, you become part of this too.

Better Cotton Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Textile Council (PTC) to promote more sustainable cotton production, strengthen engagement with national and international stakeholders, and develop market linkages amid a changing legislative landscape.
New and emerging regulations will define the operating environment for stakeholders across Pakistan and beyond. Our partnership with the PTC will help strengthen our engagement efforts and ensure that both farmers and companies feel prepared for the future.

A not-for-profit company established by apparel manufacturers, PTC is a research, advocacy and impact acceleration platform for Pakistan’s textiles industry.
The company will use its influence and expertise to help advance the national embedding of the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) and will organise awareness raising and promotional activities around sustainable cotton production in the country.
Together, Better Cotton Pakistan and PTC will host multistakeholder capacity strengthening and training workshops convening cotton farmers, traders, and exporters. These initiatives will strengthen collaboration across the value chain, while reaching alignment on requirements to comply with emerging legislation.
The promotion of Better Cotton Traceability will also be central to Better Cotton Pakistan’s collaboration with the PTC. Pakistan is one of many countries to process Physical Better Cotton; together the organisations will develop strategies to enhance market access for Pakistani Better Cotton.
This MoU represents a pivotal step towards sustainable growth for Pakistan’s textile sector. By integrating the Better Cotton Standard System nationally, we aim to enhance the quality and competitiveness of our cotton in the global market. This partnership will empower our farmers with the necessary tools and knowledge to adopt sustainable practices, ensuring the long-term viability of our cotton industry.
