Procedures for consulting on and establishing the Better Cotton System in a country
Expanding sources of Better Cotton
We all want Better Cotton to be available from more places and in greater variety. That’s why we are focusing on building strategic partnerships with important organisations around the world.
Africa
We have been working with Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) for about a year now and are busy developing the basis for a long-term partnership agreement post November 2013, continuing to co-deliver sustainable benefits to farmers and workers across the continent. Under the interim partnership agreement, CmiA verified cotton harvested from the 1st of April 2012 and verified under CmiA’s standard version 2 and ‘yellow’ on threshold spraying can be sold as Better Cotton – this covers collaboration up until November 2013. If you have any questions about Better Cotton from CmiA sources, please contact supply[at]bettercotton.org or Christian Barthel, Managing Director at christian.barthel[at]abt-foundation.com
BCI has developed a short briefing on how to source CmiA verified cotton as Better Cotton
Australia & USA
We are working towards having Better Cotton available in Australia and the USA in the not too distant future, as BCI seeks strategic partners in these key cotton producing countries. We’ll keep you up to date with development on this during 2013.
