Elections to BCI Council are voted on at BCI’s General Assembly, and positions are open to all members (except for Associate Members). Each membership category has 3 seats, for a total of 12 seats. Once elected, the Council has the option to appoint up to three additional people to the Council.
The Council’s role is to ensure that the Association has a clear strategic direction and an adequate policy to successfully fulfil its mission. Council members are to represent membership, not themselves or the orgnisation they come from.

- WWF, represented by Hammad Kahn (until 2014)
- Solidaridad, represented by Janet Mensink (until 2016)
- GuoXin Rural Technology Service Association, represented by Gu Hong (until 2016)
- ABRAPA (Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers), represented by Álvaro Dilli Gonçalves (until 2014)
- Farmers Associates of Pakistan, represented by Bilal Israel Khan (until 2016)
- IKEA, represented by Guido Verijke (until 2014)
- H&M, represented by Henrik Lampa (until 2016)
- Levi Strauss & Co., represented by Manuel Baigorri (until 2014)
- Olam International Ltd., represented by Indranil Majumdar (until 2016)
- ECOM Agroindustrial Ltd., represented by David Rosenberg (until 2014)
